Tips on How to Make Turkish Tea Pot

First, you need the traditional teapot, which is called a caydanlk in Turkish. It has a big metal container and a smaller container that stands on top of it. The smaller part is used to make the tea, while the bigger part is used to boil some more water.

Then you will have to decide how you want to make it. We have two options, and we think you should try both of them to see which one fits your tastes better.

The first style, which is the most popular, has you boil the water first and then make the tea. Let us go step by step!

Add water to the bigger pot. Put it in the oven and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Put some tea leaves in the smaller pot. We recommend going by how many look right to you! Pour the water that is boiling over them. Put water in the bigger pot. Put the two containers together and keep them in the oven on medium heat until the water in the bigger containers boils again. Once it starts to boil, turn the oven down to its lowest setting and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

The second, less popular method is to boil the water and brew the tea at the same time. This takes a lot more time than the first method, but we still want you to try both and decide which one you like best.

In the smaller pot, put some tea leaves. On top of that, pour some water. Add water to the bigger pot. Put them in the oven at a medium-high temperature. The steam from the bigger pot will be used to heat the mixture in the smaller pot. When the water starts to boil, turn the oven down to its lowest setting. Let it sit for ten to fifteen minutes. So, that’s all!

Another key to Turkish tea pot is the amount of time you wait till it brews! If you wait longer, it will have a more bitter taste and a darker red hue. It’s the most preferable look for the tea-loving Turks, though a lighter tone would probably appeal more to the starters.

Further, just stay away from tea bags as far as possible. Many of us just consider tea bags a disgrace to our red-hued tea. Why skip the most important process of all, the brewing process, just to have it fast, right?

Our tea is ready when you order it. What’s next? When you make Turkish tea pot, the way you serve it is also part of the custom.

You’ll just pour in enough brewed tea to fill a quarter of your glass. This is the standard amount, but you can change it to suit your tastes. Then, you’ll pour hot water into the rest of the cup. You’ll get used to how much brewed tea to put in your glass over time. The less brewed tea you put in, the lighter the colour of your tea will be, and vice versa. But it takes time.

So, be patient.

Another tip is that you should use the traditional tulip-shaped tea glass, which has a smaller waist making it easier to hold it. It’s also smaller than a regular cup so one can drink the tea before it gets cold. Though other types of cups are also used, real tea lovers just prefer the traditional!

Add cubes of sugar only after you have tried the tea unsweetened.

Even though sugar cubes are placed next to the tea, you don’t have to use them.

Last but not least, some of us don’t like it when tea leaves rise on top of it. So, we use a small screen or a tea strainer to stop it.
